The 2024 Adventure
An Unforgettable Journey to Alaska
The 2024 Annual Veteran Trip took place August 14th through August 23rd, providing a memorable experience for four recipients which included three Marine Veterans and one Navy Veteran. The participants began their adventure by flying into Ketchikan, Alaska, where they stayed at a mid-century modern waterfront retreat known as Paradise Cove.
The group embarked on a two-day excursion to Babe Islands Lodge located on Prince of Wales Island. This century-old floating log cabin complex, nestled in a comfortable cove, offered breathtaking views of the Alaskan wilderness and the tranquility needed to relax. Arriving in true Alaskan style, the group landed in front of the lodge via a float plane. For the next two days, the recipients engaged in various activities such as fishing, crabbing, shrimping, kayaking, and immersing themselves in the stunning Alaskan landscape.

After this exhilarating experience, the group returned to the mainland in Ketchikan via another float plane and were reunited with Paradise Cove. The following days allowed the recipients to enjoy ziplining and additional fishing on chartered boats.
Our recipients also had the chance to visit Bifrost Blacksmithing, where they witnessed the craftsmanship involved in making knives donated for Alaska Adventure Project’s annual charity golf tournament. Alaska Adventure Project's annual golf tournament is the pinnacle fundraising event which allows us to bring veterans to Alaska, showcasing the community's dedication in support of our mission.
During the trip, our group was hosted for a dinner at the Elks Lodge, where they had the opportunity to connect with the local community who have been faithful supporters of Alaska Adventure Project and our mission to serve veterans. This special dinner is a testament to the local community's generosity and support for those who have served the nation.
The 2024 Annual Veteran Trip was not just an adventure but a heartfelt experience that provided the veterans with camaraderie, relaxation, and the chance to explore the majestic beauty of Alaska. It was a journey that honored their service and created lasting memories.
